Ask Your Husband Before You Buy A Bike For Sale
I did not realize how important it is in a relationship to come from similar backgrounds. My husband and I were raised in similar families. We are both from German heritage and were raised in small towns. We both were baptized in the Catholic Church as infants and have maintained our faith through adulthood. We raised our children in a rural area in the Catholic faith. Our daughter married a young man that we have grown very fond of. He is from a very wealthy family that did not practice any formal religion. He agreed to marry in the Catholic Church and to baptize their children in the faith. Raising their children has brought out the differences in their upbringing.
When my daughter was growing up we did not have a great deal of excess income. We had a nice home, paid bills on time and drove reliable cars, but we needed to watch for sales and there were times when we bought used things instead of new. This was not a bad thing our children learned to appreciate what they had and they also learned to look for bargains. When my daughter’s son was getting to the point of riding a bike my daughter started watching the paper for listings of bikes for sale. She knew that the small bikes that are first used by youngsters are quickly out grown. She thought a used bike for sale for the first season would be a smart thing to do. She called me to let me know that she would be in the neighborhood on Saturday morning to pick up a bike that had been listed in the paper. She wanted to know if we would be home so she could visit for a while.
She stopped over with the bike and our grandson. My husband helped him put his helmet on and helped balance the bike as he tried to get the feel of it. While we were doing this my son-in-law called on my daughter’s cell phone. When he found out that she had purchased a used bike he was furious. He did not want his son having hand me downs. I was very surprised by this. My daughter told me that they disagree about money a great deal. She likes to shop for bargains. Her feeling is that just because they have money they do not need to spend it foolishly. She did not understand why she should pay more for a new bike when the bikes for sale in the paper were in good shape and would be used for a short time. She said that her friends think it is funny that her arguments with her husband are about her spending too little. When she left she said that she most likely would not be looking for bikes for sale in the future. She joked that maybe she should start spend lots of money.
