Fresh And Drums - Bottled Water Service
My parents have been using a bottled water service for several years now, for no conceivable reason. It is as if they have nothing to spend their hard earned money on than a bottled water delivery service. My mom jokes that the bottled water is the “unleaded” water, like the term when it was applied to old gasoline. I have not heard any evidence that there is actually any lead in the water where I grew up. I think that the tap water is not perfect, but it can not be as bad as all that. Although I like the taste of the water from the bottled water service, it seems sort of like a waste to pay all of that good money to buy it. They could be getting something that is really worth while, like good wine or fresh fruit. I mean, they already have local water from the Great Lakes and that is some of the best water in the world. I do not know what it is, but between my moms paranoia and my dads apathy, they had to use the bottled water service. It is most embarrassing.
I would think that a filter would work just as well or even better. There is really no reason to believe that the stuff from the bottled water service is of a superior quality, although it does taste pretty good. It seems so much less wasteful to change filters and to just drink what comes out of the tap, than to buy all of that water that gets hauled around in those trucks at great expense from God knows where all the time. I guess maybe it is a generational thing, but sometimes I really do not understand my parents at all.
I did always like one thing about water from bottled water services. I always enjoyed playing with the big jugs it came in. The bottled water service brought these big, thick blue plastic jugs completely filled with sloshing, fresh water. I always enjoyed drumming on things when I was a kid and those jugs were so such fun to hit and pound on. There would always be plenty of empty ones waiting on the porch for the bottled water service to pick up, and I could have my friends over and have a drum jam without even bothering my folks inside.
